Fox Sparrow Photos @ Jericho, Vermont

Images captured 4/6-8/2017 @ Jericho, Vermont (through kitchen window). Perhaps the same bird that visited Jericho during October of 2016.

Fox Sparrow: 7" Large sparrow; rufous streaking on gray head and back; whitish underparts boldly streaked with brown or rufous and with an irregular central dot on breast; reddish-brown rump and tail.

~Donald and Lilian Stokes field guide.

Fox Sparrows are transitory in Vermont, meaning  they do not nest here. Seen in Vermont mainly in Mar  / April, and in Oct / Nov. They nest in northern Canada, in Alaska, and down through the Rocky Mountains.

What birds are you seeing in your Vermont backyard ? We welcome guests bird photos and text.
