The birding group came up with dozens of possible explanations. Some plausible, some a good entry into a mystery novel.
A bit later the man was seen walking towards shore and the ladder had disappeared.
Meanwhile I slowly crept up to this Lesser Yellowlegs on the Lake Champlain shoreline.
